My Contributions to the Class
A large part of the group work that I participated in revolved around the actual archiving. I spent many class periods sifting through the vast amounts of materials to be found in the sixteen boxes of Brorby’s belongings. I organized many of the photographs and film, including family and personal pictures. I also filed Brorby's photos reproductions of his work. Other major aspects of archiving that I participated in were organizing and interpreting letters, Harry's personal essays and writings, documentation of his work, and a plethora of other items. I was also involved in the Provenance group, which focused on documenting and organizing Harry's artwork. We also researched where his pieces were sold and/or currently reside. For the Provenance group I organized the film slides and photos of Brorby's work, giving them accession numbers. I digitalized Brorby's sketchbook as well. Nearly all of the work I did for The Harry Brorby Project was directly hands-on.
